Quilters Give Comfort

This is Anne Selder of the Comfort Society with the quilt she has donated for a fundraising raffle to benefit the SC Hospice Society. The Comfort Society is part of Sunshine Coast Quilters Guild supporting the creation and distribution of quilts in the community.

Since its inception, the Comfort Society has provided hundreds of quilts to individuals and organizations on the Coast and sometimes further afield. In 2018, 396 donation quilts were made by big-hearted and talented quilters.

Some of the recipients include:

  • Sechelt Hospital (Maternity)
  • Sunshine Coast Hospice
  • Christenson Village
  • Totem Lodge
  • Shorncliffe
  • Meals on Wheels
  • Habitat for Humanity
  • Sumac Place
  • community organizations for fundraising

Anne is pleased that her quilt will benefit the Hospice Society and says, “I have very pleasant memories from when my brother was in a hospice, so I was more than thrilled to hear that you would want to use my quilt at your fundraiser. Keep up the great work that you do for our community; it not only helps the person dying but also gives such wonderful support to the families and friends who visit the hospice who interact with your volunteers and staff. Thank You!”

Raffle tickets are available at:

  • Sew Easy in Sechelt
  • Ambrosia Organic Living (Health Food Store) in Roberts Creek
  • Seasoned Kitchen in Gibsons
  • before the draw at Hike for Hospice, May 5, starting 12 noon at Mission Point Park
