Weaving the Pieces Together with Janna Maria
Weaving is one of the oldest forms of art making. It helps people improve their gross & fine motor skills. Hand weaving can be learned easily and practiced by people with physical disability, hearing disability and learning disability. It helps to reduce anxiety and improve self esteem, and learning the supportive group setting enhances belonging. In Janna’s sessions, participants learn step by step how to create a small finished weaving: preparing the looms, choosing the colours of hand-dyed yarn, and then creating the weaving that expresses themselves and their emotions. Throughout the process, conversations are lively and community is built.
