Lights of Life
A Sunshine Coast Hospice holiday tradition since 1992
Lights of Life provides an opportunity for the public to pause and reflect on the memory of their loved one(s) during the busy holiday season.
Throughout November and December, Hospice volunteers host booths in public locations such as Sunnycrest Mall in Gibsons, Gibson and District Public Library, Gumboot Cafe, Trail Bay Centre in Sechelt, and Pender Harbour Community Hall.
At the tables, we provide ornaments on which passersby can write a loving tribute or simply the names of their loved one(s) who have died and hang them on the tree. On New Year’s Day, hundreds of ornaments are gathered and then brought to a ceremonial public beach bonfire event called Lighting of the Memories.
While visiting the Lights of Life tables, volunteers are there to create a safe space for people to remember and talk about memories of loved one(s), share how they are coping with grief, or learn about the services we offer.

Give to Lights of Life: Double Your Impact!
The Lights of Life's annual presence within the community occurs during the holiday giving season, presenting a natural opportunity for the community to contribute to Hospice and support our clients throughout the year.
You can give in person at the booths, drop by Hospice House, or give by mail online. Either way, your donation will be doubled.
