The Power of Words with David Roche
David’s storytelling session enables participants to tell their stories, and listen to the stories of others, which can act as a means of support. While telling the story, there is also the opportunity to reflect and evaluate one’s own situation, which can have a positive effect on well being, and contribute to enhanced quality of life. Storytelling has the potential to preserve self-identity and boosts confidence, allowing people to more easily connect with others, as they are valued and acknowledged for their contributions. The process of storytelling affords the teller a sense of autonomy, as they are in control of what they choose to share, as they are gently encouraged in a supportive and caring environment.
The Circle Wellness Program

The Circle is our weekly free palliative wellness program offered on Tuesdays and Thursdays at Hospice House in Davis Bay. The Circle offers a selection of activities including meditation, gentle movement, art, music, legacy projects, educational workshops and more.
Each session includes a light lunch and refreshments. In addition to the scheduled activities, participants have access to support, information and resources, and the opportunity to socialize. Programming can also be made available virtually from home.
Doors open at 9:30, and volunteers are available until 12:30 for participants to be picked up.
To be eligible, participants need to have received a diagnosis of a life-limiting illness, and be independent with activities of daily living (or come to the program with assistance). You must pre-register with Hospice for The Circle program.
