Painting with GRACE with Catherine Dunlop
Art therapy offers participants another way to communicate. The process utilizes a combination of visual art such as painting, and principles of psychotherapy to provide a creative vehicle for self-exploration and understanding. Thoughts and feelings are often expressed in greater intensity and with greater ease through images, rather than words. With guidance from an experienced art therapist, emotions and even inner conflicts can be transformed in visual form. Through the creative act, it is possible to externalize a feeling, resolve it, and then re-integrate it, providing closure and understanding.
The Circle Wellness Program
August 2022 to January 2023
The Circle is our weekly free palliative wellness program offered on Tuesdays and Thursdays at Hospice House in Davis Bay. The Circle offers a selection of activities including meditation, gentle movement, art, music, legacy projects, educational workshops and more.
Each session includes a light lunch and refreshments. In addition to the scheduled activities, participants have access to support, information and resources, and the opportunity to socialize. Programming can also be made available virtually from home.
Doors open at 9:30, and volunteers are available until 12:30 for participants to be picked up.
To be eligible, participants need to have received a diagnosis of a life-limiting illness, and be independent with activities of daily living (or come to the program with assistance). You must pre-register with Hospice for The Circle program.
