David George

Treasurer

David is a chartered accountant and a Licensed Insolvency Trustee. Prior to his retirement in 2016 when he and his wife, Doreen, moved to Sechelt, he was responsible for the personal bankruptcy practice in BC and Yukon for a national accounting firm.

After retiring, he wanted to get involved and use his professional skills to benefit the community. He joined the Board of the Sunshine Coast Hospice in March 2018, and formerly served as the Board’s treasurer.

In his free time, he enjoys playing old timer hockey on the Coast with the Rusty Cranks. He enjoys doing construction work around his home, sometimes assisted by his children and very young grandchildren when they visit. One other interest is working on his flight simulator honing his programming and flight skills.

David shares, “At some point, all of us face our mortality. I am pleased to be contributing to an organization whose mission is to enhance the quality of life for those facing advancing illness, death, and bereavement, through skilled and compassionate support, education, and advocacy.”
