Ron Skene
Director
Ron and his wife Angela moved to the Sunshine Coast 20 years ago to be founding members of the Roberts Creek CoHousing, where he continues to fill various leadership roles.
As an avid outdoorsman, he was instrumental in the development of Dakota Ridge, where he continues to teach cross-country skiing. He initiated an ukulele group at the Sechelt Senior Activity Center and coaches pickleball there as well. Ballroom dancing, kayaking, bicycling and hiking are some of the ways he enjoys aging well.
As an active Coast Hospice volunteer, the mission of Hospice is very much in alignment with Ron’s personal sense of mission, that of acknowledging and honouring the social, emotional and spiritual aspects of being human. He deliberately developed the ability to listen deeply to the heart and has a goal to increase the participation of men in hospice activities.
Ron was CEO of an international youth wilderness leadership program focused on drawing forth innate qualities of character. He also served as a Guidance Counsellor in the public school system.
