Tara Franken

Director

Friendly and outgoing retired investment banker with 11+ years of experience in managing and training people, with a specialty in teaching communication and dialogue.

Seeking to leverage these skills and the love for nonprofit missions to raise the profile and assist with the financial processes of the Sunshine Coast Hospice Society.

My desire to join the Hospice Society is a personal one, I lost both of my parents in 2020 — my mother to cancer and my father to heart disease. Unfortunately, due to Covid we were unable to acquire a Hospice Bed for my mother and instead were assisted by the Palliative nurses for her care. I had no idea until then that the Hospice Society only had two beds for this aging community. When it was mentioned to me that an opportunity to be a part of your organization was coming available, I jumped at the chance. I think my education and skill set are ideal, as well as my personal experience with loss and working through family illness.

Coast Hospice

Providing compassionate care to individuals facing end-of-life and their families since 1987. Whether at the hospital, in your home, or in one of the four temporary hospice rooms at Silverstone Care Centre, we are here to support you. We also offer programs and services for grief support, bereavement, and advance care planning, with the assistance of trained community volunteers. In partnership with Vancouver Coastal Health, we are working towards opening the Coast’s first dedicated residential hospice in 2026.
